Deepcblue Projects

Deepcblue Customers

Here we present a selection of work for some of our customers. The selected projects depict a range of engagements particularly relevant to our work in assisting public sector bodies to deploy transformational broadband infrastructure.

Broadband Across Europe

Connecting Bristol - (Connecting Bristol website link)

Connecting Bristol is the city’s Digital Partnership. It is a part of Bristol City Council and works closely with the Bristol Partnership, which is the city’s LSP (Local Strategic Partnership).

Its aim is to ensure that Bristol is widely recognised as a creative, smart, green and connected city. Their role is to ensure that inclusive digital participation enables the city to realise its potential. Connecting Bristol grew out of the Government’s Digital Challenge competition.

Connecting Bristol needed to articulate how important next generation broadband was to the continued economic growth of the city,  to Public sector efficiency and  Digital social inclusion.

Deepcblue were responsible for stake-holder management throughout the development of a feasibility study and report into various methods of providing next-generation broadband connections across the city. We also provided revenue side information to the business case attached to this work. This involved crafting a vision of what next generation broadband would mean for each of the individual stake holders (across the public sector, 3rd sector, business , consumers and telecoms operators)  and soliciting feedback on how this would affect their aspiration and ambitions. This was done by a series of formal and informal meetings,  workshops and market research  sessions with different user groups.

Our work enabled Connecting Bristol to develop a feasibility study in conjunction with Adit North that has created the foundations of a programme to develop Next Generation Infrastructure across the city.

NYnet

NYnet is a public sector commercial venture created in order to provide a communications network that is capable of delivering multiple high quality services to citizens, business and public sector bodies.

Deepcblue have a long and successful history with NYnet, since we led the initial feasibility study  in 2005. We have supplied multiple consultants and project managers into the company and helped NYnet expand to what it is today – the most successful public sector telecommunications intervention in the UK.

Deepcblue consultants have been responsible for business planning, setting up the channels sales organisation, writing business cases for network and service expansions, liaising with grants bodies and other funding organisations , managing grants out for not-spot projects and providing specialist project management services  for technical infrastructure deployments.

Of particular note is our work leading the design, procurement and deployment of  FTTP (Fibre To the Premises) project in Scarborough Business Park.  This work won an the award  for Open Access Business Service for a pioneering next generation network at Scarborough Business Park,  one of the first in the UK to offer bandwidth over 100 Mbps to its customers.

David Cullen, CEO Nynet ,  “ Deepcblue has been an important partner for NYnet since its inception, providing an essential input into NYnet’s strategy development,  business set up and resources since 2004”

West Of England Sport Trust (> Wesport website link)

Wesport had an urgent need to provide a very high quality bid presenting Bristol as a prospective stadium site for England’s 2018 Football  World Cup bid. They turned to Deepcblue to write the technical section for this bid at the recommendation of the connecting Bristol team.

The challenge was to convey the potential of existing and future telecommunications infrastructure as a platform for exciting futuristic applications.  We turned around this document within three weeks, allowing Wesport to meet the tight bid timescales.

The Bristol bid was successful and  has been incorporated in to the English Football Association’s bid for the location of the 2018 world cup.

Richard Barrington (Project Manager for Wesport)  wrote “Clive, just had the FA feedback .....just wanted to say thanks….hit the mark first time!”

B3 – Better Broadband for regions (> B3regions website link) )
